Liliana Di Lorenzo studied architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of the Republic (Uruguay) , and is an Interior Design graduate of the Institute Gino Moncalvo. Liliana also graduated in Stage and Lighting design from the Municipal School of Arts of Montevideo.
Her vocation to design and create combined with her drawing ability, acute perception of space, and sensitivity to shape and color, led her to investigate materials and techniques in various «ateliers» of artists and artisans, and attend specialization courses and congresses in various study centers in the country and abroad. Liliana has also taught design at the Center for Industrial Design and the ORT School of Interior Design. She was a pioneer in the development of Interior Design in Uruguay designing various innovative furniture pieces and accessories for the local Design Industry.
Participates regularly in exhibitions, national and international competitions, and has received the following honors:
First Prize in utilitarian design products with semiprecious stones (Uruguay Chamber of Industries), First National Award for Best Design Innovation Profile (World Craft Council – Uruguay), Special Mention International Design Competition in Mercosur (Argentina) for a wine cellar design , selected to represent Uruguay at the International Design Biennale in St Etienne (France) for the semiprecious stones accessories collection.
Liliana was twice winner of the First Prize in the House of Art and Design (prestigious local interior design exhibition). The Uruguayan Association of Professional Designers distinguished her with the award for Best Project in 2012. Liliana was twice named Woman of the Year as Professional Designer. Is often invited to give lectures and participate in various special programs and provide TV news stories as leader of opinion. Since 2002 she is Jury member of Hecho Aca (main exhibition of handcrafted products in Uruguay). Liliana’s interiors projects and product designs are published in more than 100 journalistic notes in specialized media. On the occasion of celebrating 20 years dedicated to interior design, the Art and Design Magazine published an exclusive issue.
